Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole daughter from Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. She was raised by an aunt who worked as an housewife, and her father who was a teacher. She has three older brothers: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick began singing and dancing in her early years and often performed puppet shows in front of children in her area. She won her first contest, the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest at the age of 6 and was contacted through Pat Domigan, a talent agent of the Jack Wormser Agency. He asked her if she wanted to work in the show business. McCormick was offered her first major task when she was cast in the commercial for television that was broadcast in 1964 of Mattels newest baby doll Baby Pattaburp. In the following year, she starred in another commercial with the company's Chatty Cathy doll and was later cast in the show Wind It Up And It breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children to play the oldest towheaded girl in The Brady Bunch. The sitcom starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed who were newlyweds with a blended-family. The show ran for 5 seasons. McCormick disclosed the story Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published in 2008) that McCormick nearly lost her Virginity with Barry Williams during the five-year period on the program. He was 19. She was just 16. She said that it would have been feasible, but we never had the right moment to make the decision.
