Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in the fields of film, television as well as theatre. She was a boarding student in London from seven to nine, after which her family moved towards Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor trained and eventually became a dancer of classical style in Toronto. She was a student at an Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school, where she did not only dance but studied theater as well. Contractor began acting at age 16 after completing a total of 10 years of dance. She was awarded a full scholarship to study at the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's in theatre, and also double-majored in social and psychology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having been a student for a year and auditioned during an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. After 92 performances, she received glowing reviews. The production was recognized as the top production in Canada by the critics. Contractor was offered the opportunity to join Stratford's conservatory, where the top eight men and four females are selected for a 20-week crash course on the classical stage that she gladly accepted. Contractor got a confirmed spot for the following season. She was also offered the role as Hermia.
